Stephen Cromwell is a seasoned Attorney and Certified Public Accountant with over 20 years of experience advising individuals and businesses on strategic tax planning and financial optimization. He holds a Juris Doctor (JD), an MBA in Finance, and an advanced law degree (LL.M.) in Taxation. He is licensed to practice in Maryland and admitted to the U.S. Tax Court and the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland.

Stephen has earned the prestigious NTPI Tax Fellow® and Certified Tax Resolution Specialist (CTRS) designations, and is an active member of several professional organizations including the AICPA, the American Society of Tax Problem Solvers (ASTPS), and the National Association of Valuation Analysts (NACVA). He is also a Registered Investment Advisor.

Before founding DMV Tax Resolution and becoming the Managing Partner of Cromwell & Company, Stephen held senior finance roles in high-tech firms throughout the Baltimore-Washington corridor. Notably, he served as Controller for NFR Security, where he played a key role in its acquisition by Check Point Software Technologies (NASDAQ: CHKP) and supported the post-integration process. Earlier in his career, he worked as a senior analyst in the treasury department of ICMA Retirement Corporation.

Stephen specializes in tax preparation, IRS representation, audits, business valuation, and investment advisory services. He has also taught accounting courses at universities and community colleges across the DC Metro area.

Originally from Baltimore, Stephen enjoys spending time outdoors running, hiking, and biking. In the fall, you’ll often find him cheering on the Maryland Terrapins at College Park on game days.
