General Accounting Services

In addition to assurance services, Cromwell & Company offers a variety of accounting and consulting services. Some of these additional services include but are not limited to:

Controllership Services

One of the most valuable services a CPA can provide to a small business is to perform duties that are usually performed by a corporate controller. Start-ups and small businesses generally cannot afford the services of a full-time or even part-time controller. The average salary of a full time seasoned controller can command a salary of $100,000 to $150,000 or more! This is before benefit packages which can be about 25-30% of the base salary of the professional.

Some of the functions that a controller would be responsible for:

  • Management of the Accounting Functions (Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payroll, General Ledger Maintenance, Preparation of Financial Statements, Internal Auditing)
  • Supervise Accounting Personnel
  • Prepare Budgets
  • Prepare Financial Forecasts
  • Prepare Tax Returns (Sales Taxes, Payroll Taxes, Excise Taxes, and Corporate Taxes)
  • Prepare Financial Statements
  • Interact with outside auditors or other independent accountants
  • Help clients with regulatory issues
